Short’s Shorts blog for June 6th

Hello everyone,

Baby birds are all around us. I have a garden full of robin chicks and starling teenagers running in the grass or along the fence tops, chasing after their parents and harassing them for food. It reminds me of when my chicks were teenagers with their voracious appetites, always waiting to be fed and not willing to leave the nest yet. The circle of life…

This week’s stories include another humorous gem from Mike Crompton, titled “Blue Light”, a timely story about UFOs, but somehow I don’t think that our American neighbours will be interested in investigating this.

I have added one of my poems. A dialogue poem between a couple, titled “Let’s Get a Pet.” Then there are two micro-stories, the first is a thought-provoking story about mortality by Deb Rouleau, titled “Future Imperfect.” The second is a teaching moment by Michelle Dinnick, titled “Emerson’s Favourite Sandwich.”

I have been asked to request alpha readers for some of our upcoming authors who are writing novels. If any of you are interested in helping out, or if you would like to enlist the help of an alpha reader send an email to brendashort@writingblog.ca

As usual, please send me your comments on this week’s stories.
