Blog for May 29th

Hello everyone,

Join me this week and learn how to play poker with Angie Rose-Carnegie and her story titled “Trusted Advice”.  Or make a wish on a shooting star with my story titled “Lovey and Lass: The Shooting Star”.  A poem of hope by Angela van Breemen titled “The Sun Will Shine Again” and chapter 2 of our current story chain, “Murder, Murder, Murder” written by Isolde Ryan.

The weather is lovely, so find some time to go outside and enjoy it before the temperature rises into the 30s.  Inspiration is just outside your door.

May 23rd blog for Short’s Shorts

Hello everyone,

Well, my tulips didn’t last long with that thunderous rain yesterday. However, they were lovely while they bloomed. We have very interesting stories this week – A humorous tale from Mike Crompton that will teach us all a lesson in this age of technology titled “Reply To All”. A heart-wrenching story from Chantelle Carignan-Fieldhouse titled “What Now?” and a new story beginning the story chain murder mystery, titled “Murder, Murder, Murder”. Our poem of the week is from Frank Castellano titled simply “Mother”

Check the News and Current Events page for information about our Semi-Annual writing competition and don’t forget, all the proceeds will be matched and sent to Red Cross for Ukraine. Have a wonderful Victoria Day!

Hello everyone,

The results are in.  The winner of the Mother’s Day writing competition, receiving a $20 prize and a certificate is Joanne Jordan with her poem The Vintage Dress.  2nd place runner-up receiving a certificate was Dian Bowers with her story Through a Child’s Eyes.  3rd place runner-up receiving a certificate was Mary Penner with her story Happy Mother’s Day.  It was a very close competition and I thank all those who participated. You can read these stories on writingblog.ca.

Other contributions this week include the fourth episode in the Sally Tango murder mystery story chain, written by Tammy Tipler-Priolo and a story from myself entitled Celestial Intervention.  Hope you enjoy reading with us.  If you have missed any episodes of Sally Tango, you can find them in the Archives (new on the drop-down menu) under Story Chains.  The Archives section is under construction right now but should make it easier to find previously featured material.
